How to Do a Screenshot in Nokia N950
Ever heard of the Nokia N950? If you have not heard of it yet then that is probably because of the exclusivity of the device. The Nokia N950 is a mobile phone released after the much anticipated shipment of the Harmattan-running Nokia N9 (its older sibling). Just like the N9, the N950 is also a phone packed with features and one of its features is a simple keyboard shortcut that takes a screenshot of its beautiful screen.
Before we go on to the actual steps of taking a screenshot in the Nokia N950, let us first get to know the device you are holding (or is probably wanting to hold). The N950, unlike the N9, packs in a sliding full-row qwerty keyboard that is very useful for developers. The Nokia N950 runs of the latest iteration of MeeGo which is 1.2 Harmattan OS and is run by a powerful 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor with 1 GB RAM. The Nokia N950 has a built in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and MicroUSB 2.0. The N950 also supports HSDPA for up to 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA for 5.76 Mpbs. It packs in a 12 MP autofocus camera with a maximum resolution of 4000X3000 pixels with dual-LED flash. The camera of the Nokia N950 is so powerful that it can take macro shots so well without damaging the littlest details of the image. Its dual-LED flash also works very well in low-light or dark surroundings but is not that powerful compared to XENON flashes. The camera software also supports geo-tagging, face detection, and touch focus. The internal memory of the Nokia N950 is 8.5 GB but is no longer expandable as it does not support a card slot. Aside from those, the Nokia N950 has the usual sorts that a smartphone has nowadays including the 3.5 mm standard audio jack. To top it all off, the N950 supports a 4.0 inches capacitive touchscreen supporting 16M colors with ~245 ppi pixel density. With a screen resolution of 480 x 854, the Nokia N950 easily has one of the most stunning displays in the mobile phone market today. Now, don’t you want to share your gorgeous phone?
However, not everyone can have this phone. The Nokia N950 is an exclusive developer’s handset. Still, if you can get your hands on this, share some screen captures. Here is how to do it.
If you can still remember the Nokia N900 (the first Nokia handset to run on a Linux platform), you know pretty well how to take a screenshot in the Nokia N950. In order for you to take a screenshot in the Nokia N950, you can press Ctrl + Shift + P. This keyboard shortcut will only work with the native applications of the N950 and would not work on 3rd party apps. There is an app called Boosted WG where you can use the screen grab function (it is preinstalled). Under the Debug tools of the app, choose the option to take a screenshot and set the number of seconds that you want. Press the “Take It!” button and then go to the application that you want to take a screenshot. Then, you are done. Just go to the /MyDocs/.images to view the image.
